This form of idolatry leads to a limited expression of human connection, often defined by brokenness or fear-shame. Without a healthy spiritual practice, such as fasting, the hardness of heart can lead to despair and oppression. This can result in individuals becoming fixated on instant gratification rather than long-term goals and can contribute to various societal issues
